Long road leading into the endless darkness Five below, they say there’ll be snow the while Heading home, down by the Channel Before the morning light I’m in a jam on the roads just trying to get home tonight Said my farewells by the frozen roadside No stars above when I left my love that night Wishing she could be here beside me Along for the ride I’m in a jam in the roads just trying to get home tonight Heavy traffic, fire on the road Count the mileposts down, long way to go (break) Solitude no object to conversation When you’re whiling six hundred miles away Been talking to myself for so long Sometimes I get a reply I’m in a jam in the roads just trying to get home tonight Brimstone and ice and suicidal drivers If I survive I swear I’m never driving again Got to get to sanctuary Before the storm arrives I’m in a jam in the roads just trying to get home tonight Heavy traffic, fire on the road Count the mileposts down, long way to go

VERSE 1: Benches abuzz with gossip and hearsay Who's friends with who? Thumb collection contest winner Well, look at you. Pages of faces stare through the window Picture enlarged. Tried in the court of public opinion Guilty as charged. CHORUS: I don't know how we Ended up here Caught in the spell of a world wide daydream We should get out more Conquer the fear Quickly, my dear. VERSE 2: Paper is dead and pens are for oldies Get with the times Passive aggressive rant fixes problems And perceived crimes Wail at the wall and seek your redemption Power discharged Tried in the court of public opinion Guilty as charged. BRIDGE: We've got nothing to say We'll just sit here all day We're just wasting away CHORUS VERSE 3: Dock's got no lock and no burly bouncers Door's open wide Run past the judge and discharge the jury Escape outside Go find your friends, there's comfort in numbers A lesson learned. Tried in the court of public opinion The court is adjourned.

Mr Hubble 02:49
I’m so dumb I think I’m gonna tell her Tell her for sure That’ll burst her bubble She’s got me Spinnin’ all around Got me in the air Just like Mr Hubble Gave her my love Didn’t make her sweet I’m an imbecile An imbecee...li....ous I gotta tell you I’m hangin’ off the edge I’ve gotta bounce right back And stop seeing double She don’t care But now I’m caring less Now I’m gonna burst I’m gonna burst her bubble

And if you, believe, there's nothing Waiting at the other end Wouldn't, you like to think you're Wro-ong? But if you've, conceived of something I can't really comprehend How can, I blame you when I Find you're too far gone? Just because you're ill-equipped Doesn't mean you've been cut adrift There's no reason to hang on but you can't quite quit The spartan tartan's starting to itch If you, concede there's one thing Pass it on to me my friend Can't quite, create the cause you Sou-ought And when you, proceed with hunting Chasing that elusive blend Don't come, to me when you cast Out your last clear thought Just because you're ill-equipped Doesn't mean you've been cut adrift There's no reason to hang on but you can't quite quit The spartan tartan's starting to itch With your indecision

Trouble in the papers, well there’s trouble on the screen But the real trouble’s brewing up behind the scenes For the world is not as endless as it seems While we’re living way beyond our means Vicious spiral (x 3) Keep on spinning down Development, expansion, exploitation all around Got to keep on growing, ain’t no time for slowing down But the world is not as endless as it seems While we’re living way beyond our means Vicious spiral (x 3) Keep on spinning down Disregard the warnings while there’s profit to amass Doctrine irrevocably embedded in the past Tinker with the system when you know that it can’t last Rearrange the deckchairs while the liner’s sinking fast (break) But the world is not as endless as it seems While we’re living way beyond our means Vicious spiral (x 3) Keep on spinning down

about

The Inevitable Teaspoons are...

Daryl: Keys & Lead Vox
Matt: Bass & Artwork
Chris: Drums
Smooth Al: Sax
Kenny: Trombone & Backing Vox

Based in an old train station in Aberdeenshire, in Scotland, the 'Spoons have been brewing up tunes since late 2012. Their sound has been described as old-school R&B, played by punks. They like that description (well, some more than others).

They gig when they can, and they don't when they can't. They've been known to masquerade as grown men from time to time. And they would very much like it if you'd buy a CD.

credits

released August 5, 2015

All songs were written by the Inevitable Teaspoons.

The whole shebang was expertly recorded in 8 hours by Paul at Captain Tom's. It was all mixed and mastered in another 4 or 5. And we still ran out of money before we could print CDs.

Well over 1000 teabags were harmed in the making of this EP.
